November 20, 2008

For those who can still afford to buy clothes, Thistle & Clover is having a trunk show this Saturday.  From the Press Release:

Co-hosted by Showroom NY & Wunderbloc, we will feature the collections of Chulette and 2fer, as well as Corrente handbags.  Showroom NY has a special place in our hearts: It fosters the work of talented local designers whose production is based out of NYC.

Come check out some of our favorite new designers, and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to jump-start your holiday shopping with our exclusive 15% discount. Cocktails and lite bites will be provided! We hope to see you all there. Kindly RSVP at 718.855.5577 or at

Thistle & Clover has a great eye for beautiful items.  You can get the kind of pricey item there that you feel good having spent the money on four years later, when it’s still among the favorite in your closet.

Fashion in Fort Greene

October 10, 2007

Stuart & Wright on Lafayette has a virtual monopoly on media exposure for clothing boutiques in Fort Greene as of late.  But the shops featured below illustrate that the sartorial scene in the neighborhood is in reality far from a one-boutique show:

Addy & Ferro

Addy & Ferro, located at 672 Fulton Street, between South Elliot and South Portland, sells both emerging and contemporary designers for men and women, as well as vintage items in the back.  I got a great Plenty by Tracy Reese sweater here last year.  It’s not quite as pricey as Stuart & Wright, but it comes close.  They always seem to have great sale items, and a good selection of designer jeans.

Perched on the edge of Fort Greene at 139 Fort Greene Place, Cloth sells mid-range women’s clothing and accessories.  Some lines available here are known to be environmentally friendly.  Don’t let the closed and locked door intimidate you, as the store is actually very welcoming.

One of Fort Greene’s newest establishments, Heartbeat offers affordable and trendy women’s clothing and accessories.  Unlike the other clothing stores in the neighborhood, residents of all budgets can afford to shop here.  Heartbeat is located at 739 Fulton Street, near South Elliot.
