Oh Please Let This Place Deal in Fresh Produce
September 27, 2007A reader tipped me off to this new shop getting ready to open on Fulton Street just north east of South Elliot:
You’ll see me doing cartwheels down Lafayette Avenue if this shop sells fresh produce. Back handsprings if it’s organic and reasonably priced. The work permit in the window says it’s going to be a “deli store.” Anyone know more?
OH SH**! I’m in utter shock.
Woah. Is that the building that’s been sitting vacant for a while? Next to the deli, kinda across from the India furniture store? Could this mean we no longer have to suffer thru the “produce” sections at Pathmark or the deli next to Scopella? Praise the lord! (And I’m not even religious!)

Hooray! I pass by on my way to the gym every day, so this would be a most welcome addition.
One of the workers at Greene Farm, the deli up the street owned by the same guy, told me they would have a lot more fresh, organic produce. The Greene Farm has excellent produce, so they seem to know what they’re doing.
Greene Farm’s produce is good, but pricey…
Just “north” of South Elliott? Fulton runs east-west.
the same guy owns One Greene…the sushi place. The awnings are the same for the new deli/produce and the sushi place…just noticed that yesterday.
This would be fantastic! Green Farm’s vegetable selection is satisfactory, but their fruit cart scares me (it’s always swarming with flies). Plus, we need another produce purveyor. Greene Farm gets crowded, especially when that new cashier is working. She’s unbearably slow at the register.
I hope they have fresh fish/meats as well.
Does anyone know a good place to buy fish and meats in the neighborhood?
